This paper will explore the cosmology of Javanese dance and will focus on analysing Yogyanese dance from the court city of Yogyakarta. By expanding the meaning of the word taya (dance) and mataya (to dance) into another level of meaning, this paper will examine the relationship of the dance performer as microcosmos, with the Supreme Being, the macrocosmos.
