Southeast Asia on the American Dance Stage 1915-1955

Abstract

Southeast Asian dance traditions have been presented on the concert-theatrical stage in the United Sates since early in the twentieth century by several Euro-American dance artists for whom Asian or Oriental dances became signature pieces and who became known as propagandizers of Indian and Southeast Asian dance.
