The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has been taking an active role in the protection and preservation of historical monuments and buildings in the city of Kolkata, India. It initiated a programme of surveys and preliminary documentation of heritage buildings, digitized the information, informed the property owners, and provided legal support for safeguarding heritage structures.
